September 1, 2010 Beijing-based U-Tron Electronics pilots RMB300 million project to re-lamp Beijing Tongzhou district with new Lucas Twin Head LED very high power street lights. Beijing Tongzhou District Redevelopment Department has awarded U-Tron the re-lamping project for the Songzhuang Liuhe Bridge West road (通州宋庄六合乔西路).
If this project goes well it will lead to Tongzhou replacing its remaining 15,000 main road high pressure sodium lights with LED lights. The estimated value of this business to U-Tron is more than RMB300 million over the next two years. This is a pilot project and involves about 185 lampposts. Each lamppost currently has a 500 Watt HPS light facing the main road and a 250Watt HPS lighting the sidewalk.
